Dan Test August 2011

A Message from KJN

I hope this finds everyone in good health and spirit!

The past year presented challenges and many opportunities for growth.  We conducted four (4) gup test cycles resulting hundreds of our students being promoted.  The  49th & 50th Dan classing were held in Connecticut and Massachusetts and the 9th KoDanJa Shim Sa, resulting in new Master Instructors.

We once again hosted our weekend training at Camp Hazen after several years off due to Covid.  I'm proud of everyone that took part and especially the great effort of Master Nutter and his team driving in from Lexington, KY.  A special thanks to Master Duethorn and Master Leclerc, your support, guidance and quality of instruction is always a high point for all in attendance.

The WDU USA National Championships were held in Connecticut at Norwich Free Academy.  We were honored by Great Grand Master Song Ki Kim's visit, he offered a simple but profound comment on Tang Soo Do training. He said, "If I don't train today, I'll know.  If I don't train the next day, a friend will know. If I don't train for 3 days, everyone will know. So, always focus on training."

We continue to have great leadership from our Studio Owners,  Instructors and Dan members they work everyday to make a positive change.  Students do your part; first, show up to train and second, step up and get involved in all aspects of your Dojang.

Our goal is as always, to improve our communities one black belt at a time. I wish everyone a healthy, happy and successful 2023!

Steven Voelker, KJN

Founding Fathers Tour
Korea 2010

This was a historical event for Pyong Hwa Kunin members.  We travelled to the birth place of our art Tang Soo Do.  We trained at the famous SongTan Dojang just outside of Osan Airbase, the Palace Fortress in Suwon and on the island of Jeju.
